What Is the COVA System?

COVA stands for China Online Visa Application. It is the official online platform for submitting visa applications to Chinese embassies and consulates worldwide. The system was upgraded and relaunched in the US on September 30, 2025, replacing the previous version.

The official COVA portal is accessible at visaforchina.cn. All applications must be completed online before visiting the consulate in person.

• Document upload — You can now upload supporting documents directly in the system
• Photo upload — Digital photo must be uploaded during the application (under 2MB)
